desperate daughter .

so my mom is an alcoholic &nd it gets really hard on me . because she is a great person wen sober . but when drunk she scares me and my younger sister . she doesnt noe how &nd wen to stop. she gets violent when drunks attacks my father and she claims she sees the devil &nd he tells her what to do and stuff . im only 18 years old and its so hard for me to see my mom always like that. its horrible is there anything i could do to help her ?

I'm sorry to say but the only one that can get Mom sober is Mom herself. Unfortunately, it also seems there may be some mental illness involved which is not uncommom because alot of times they go hand in hand. Is there anything Dad can do? He's got to see how badly it affects you and your sister.

I too grew up in an alcoholic home so I know how damaging it can be to see your mother in such a state. She was drunk but not violent...my step father was the violent one (another day for that). There was no help for me so I basically grew up and left the home, got married young and vowed NEVER to put my kids through what I went through. It still hurts my sister and I to see my mother drunk which basically means everytime we see her.

I know I'm not offering you much help but I wanted you to know that life can be good---please don't let your mother's problems determine in a negative way what your life path will be, it can be hard but you can overcome this. God Bless you.
