Am i an alcoholic?

by S_O_S, Jan 22, 2008 01:59PM
People say i'm an alcoholic and i joke around with it but i don't thinnk i am! i drink alot. i am only 16 but been drinking for about three years. i don't like drinking without getting drunk because i don't see the point i used to buy two bottles a week but once it got around that i was this huge alcoholic i dont buy anymore. i decided to quit shots and only do mixed drinks. People say i can't quit because i'm soo addicted. i think i can but i truley don't want to.I probably get drunk about four days a week. I'm trying to go a month without drinking for my boyfriend and its been ten days but i'm CRAVING it! My mom thinks i need to go to rehab but there is PLENTY of people who drinnk more than me. Am i an alcoholic or i'm just having funn?

I am not in any place to call you an alcholic, but I can say that you might be heading that way. Being an alcholic does not only mean that you drink 7 days a week for the time you get up until the time you go to bed. Binge drinking can also lead to alcoholism. If you are at a point you must drink and you are craving it then you might be wise to seek help to keep you from crossing the line. If not what you think that is now all in fun will reach a point that is no longer having fun, you are completely addicted.

I think you are too young to be an alcohol.  When you get older,   it seems you certainly might lean that way.  Most alcoholics drnk to get drunk and oh.. the pain in the morning and the ability to not function.  Are you avoiding issues in life by drinkng?

you do say you have been drinking about 3 years your folks allow this? i do guess that is not the real problem here i would say you may think you are having fun give it some time and your body will tell you lots of things if you cant nip it in the bud now. it will drag you down if you can quit i think that you will have more fun and be in better health in mind and body   i do wish you lots of luck you will need it if you keep it up most people drink to escape reality and you are to young for that . this is just my opion      jo
