Are your drunk thoughts the real you?

I do not drink very often but maybe once a month.  Every one in awhile I get too drunk and say really mean things to my boyfriend.  He believes that it's my true feelings that are coming out and that's how i feel about him.  I don't feel thats true, but I could be wrong.

I need help, because I feel like I'm a different person when I drink and it's ruining my relationships.

AA people? I think you were the only one in thread to bring it up. The wonderful thing about MedHelp Bryan is that everyone is free to voice their opinion as long as they are being respectful of others and surely in your comment you didn't mean any disrespect to anyone right?

You did however offer helpful advice that I'm sure would have been useful a year ago when the post was made. Good job sir and welcome to MedHelp!

Well I've seen plenty of people drink on occasion and don't ruin their essential relationships in the process. Most don't even say one mean thing to another, and I am talking strictly normal, social drinkers. Just a thought.

Now, I'm not of that variety. From best friends to strangers, when I drank my chest puffed out and my blood began to boil and I was basically a ticking time bomb to those around me. Especially ones that I loved. Looking back, I felt extremely distressed about just about everything. And drinking heightened those feelings and I exploded on anyone in my path. Have you been stressed out or feeling inconsolable lately? What goes on in our hearts and minds in our waking day will come out tenfold when we are drunk. I can't tell you you have a problem, I can only suggest possibly looking at yourself and what is going on in your life. As I said, "normal" drinkers don't put others through that kind of verbal abuse. I can assure you, people will only take terrible treatment for so long before they walk away, it happened to me multiple times. I wish you the best.

she didnt ask if she had a drinking problem and she only drinks once a month...im so sick of these AA ppl who tell you alll about drinking and what it does to you 20 years from now when someone asks a simple question....you were drunk sweetheart...tell your bf to get over it....that drunk words are sober thoughts BS is untrue...sometimes ppl get too messed up....i dont know why ppl automatically resort to alcoholic.

As much as I tried I couldn't be a "nice guy" when I drank too much and like you, that behavior caused some problems with my wife, friends and family.  Today I stay sober and have good relationships.  I can be loving, nurturing, caring and respectful of other peoples feelings.  When I look back I am amazed at how I used to choose booze and getting drunk over having loving and happy relationships.

Like the others said a good man is hard to find.  I know I'm already taken.  LOL!!!!!!!!

God Bless!

i agree w/my 2 cohorts here and will add if u have a good man u'd best stop the drinking and the unkind words.....for someday soon he may tire of it and leave.....and sara and i can attest to the fact that good men are very hard to come by in this day and age......no throwing of honeypots from u RPoohBear!:)

My advice is to figure out what is driving those thoughts of yours while you are sober.  Lastly, read and reread the last paragraph of what rpoo wrote.  That is the reality of drinking......sara

Reacting overly dramatic to something would be more like what you could expect. If you can not handle yourself when you drink the you should consider not drinking so much or not drinking at all. If it is your goal to get plastard everytime you drink then you have something going on that could lead you to being a serious alcoholic. Alcoholism is a hard road to travel down. Take it from someone who knows.

When I was 38 I was diagnosed with end stage cirrhosis of the liver. Wanna guess what End Stage means? It can happen to anybody!
