Elevated liver enzymes.

Hey. I am a man of 42 years who have elevated liver enzymes. This is probably mostly caused by alcohol use. I started using a herbal medicine based on Mary thistle containing Silymarin. This is reported to have good effect on the reduction of liver values. In addition, I read once that honey contains a type of sugar which is beneficial to the breakdown of alcohol. Can this be true? Sincerely, Ram68.

If you continue to drink no amount of milk thistle is going to lower your liver enzymes to the normal ranges. I have been an alcoholic for twenty plus years and now live with end stage cirrhosis. I was 38 at the time of my diagnosis. Believe me the last thing I wanted to do was stop drinking! I spent a lot of hours day weeks and months trying to figure out a way around it and believe me my friend, there is only one thing you can do.

You can continue to drink and ignore this whole problem and later return and I can share with you all the tips and tricks of how to live your life the most comfortable way possible or you can make the smart choice and Do what is needed.. Stop friggen drinking

First it starts out with elevated liver enzymes, next you have a fatty liver. If you’re lucky they might catch it during the short time your liver is fibrotic and finally cirrhotic. Did you know that patients with liver disease will not have symptoms until they have reached the end stage?

You need to quit at least for a few months, give your liver time to heal, then control the amount you are having each night (like that ever works) but it's something and so much better than not even trying. Be better than this and do better than I did.

I wish you the best and I hope you find the strength you need to do the right thing for yourself and for those that care about you.
