End State Cirrhosis

End State Cirrhosis

I have brought my wife home from the hospital and they say she has "end stage Cirrhosis" and give her less than 6 months to live...She is only in minor pain right now. Am I a dreamer or is there any way to regenerate her liver? She had Ovarian Cancer Surgery in 2006 followed by 6 months of Chemo... Some have said that makes her a poor candidate for a transplant?
Ant thoughts and insite would be greatly appreciated.

I am deeply sorry for your wifes condition, regarding the liver transplant it does not hurt anyone to dream, if you are dreaming why not think it is possible that is not a dream but something beautiful called HOPE and we should never let go of it.

There are several conditions for a liver transplant, I prefer to enclose a link from the Mayo Clinic that explains how to go about a transplant and what are the requirements.

Please take it easy and read the full link, you even have legal issues in it that can help you know what to expect.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/liver-transplant/MY00349

Read the general information and then search the blue print about the legal conditions, I sincerely hope this link may help you.

Best regards and good luck.

Is your wife's cirrhosis from alcohol?  If so, and she stops completely, 100% no ifs or buts, I think her liver has a great chance of recovering to the point that it will serve its purpose for a long time. Case in point, I was diagnosed with End Stage Liver Disease, cirrhosis, ascites, the whole nine yards in early 2008 from drinking alcohol. As of today, I don't even need a transplant as my liver has recovered very well to the point it is at full 'functionality". I feel like a million bucks and have for a couple years. Of course, the scar tissue never goes away, but the liver can work with a fraction of what it started with.

I am not an exception to the rule other than apparently I am a minority in being able to stop drinking. If she totally abstains from alcohol, why couldn't she liver a normal full life like all my doctors are telling me I will? (and plan on ;-)

Hope this helps!
