AA Saying, "If I'm truly grateful for today,
I'm making a down payment
on tomorrow".

Recovery is as easy or difficult as you make it for yourself. Being stubborn and blinded by my addiction I fought the fact that my life was out of control and I was putting drink before everything. In AA they talk about spiritual awakening, I experienced spiritual awakening, it did not involve any any strange out of this world happening and it was not sudden, It was living one day with out the need to have one drink, It was the people who said you can do this, the people who stayed by my side when I was down and helped me get through that time when the cravings became unbearable.
It is good to hear from people who want sobriety and I am grateful to everyone here who share their experiences, from my experience if you are having difficulty ask for help....

I know what you're saying. Sometimes, people come here to ask a question but they don't reply back after the initial inquiry.  I didn't come back here for 7 months after my first question because I was not yet ready to accept the fact that I really had a problem, but this was my first "toe in the water" of recovery.

It's nice to hear from people who are progressing with their new lives.  I've been educated by a number of people who are further along in their recovery and it's helped me to understand and admit my alcoholism.  And with that admission comes true healing.

This Memorial Day Weekend marks the 3 year anniversary of the date that my drunken world came crashing down.  My body would no longer accept alcohol on this weekend in 2007, and I had to come to grips with reality.  I did not stop 100% at the time, but I've been dragged kicking and screaming into a new way of life and I think I understand it now.  Much better without the alcohol in my life!

I think it is important to pay forward all the good advice we ourselves have been given in our recovery, this way if I can help one person I've achieved something.

Hi Guys,
Have not been on much of late because the SUN is shining and I am making the most of it. Life is good.
Thanks Ibizan, to be clean & sober makes us all winners, listening to people fresh in recovery on here helps me to stay sober, it reminds me of where I came from and for sure I dont want to go back to that insanity & self-destruction...
