How much is too much?

How much is too much?

I'm a 18 years old male at 180 pounds.
I usually drink about 3 to 4 scotches a week and, before you think about it, I don't do binge drinking. I simply enjoy the taste and the flavours.
I've been drinking this much for about half a year and I haven't noticed yet any side effect, but many people are constantly telling me this will be noticed for sure on my mental and physical performance.
What would you say?

Tolerance for alcohol vaires with the individual but your level of drinking is nothing to be alarmed about unless you have zero tolerance for alcohol.

I actually have a good alcohol tolerance and dont even come to get dizzy or impaired, but many people keep telling me this behaviour will develop serious long-term problems.

It doesn't sound to me like your abusing alcohol. Sounds more like a young man just seeing what all the hype is about. Your doing fine so enjoy your scotch and if you ever feel concerned about your drinking come back and say hello. We love to judge! ha ha Just kidding!

When I was 18, I was only about 115 pounds at 5'6 and I was drinking about a liter or more of vodka a day. I knew I was developing a problem when my hands started shaking and I was sick to my stomach until I drank again. In my opinion you're fine, but if you ever feel that you are drinking too much, too often then try to stop and talk to someone about it. Good luck! **remember, don't drink and drive**

As a Swedish client once told me "We are all different". As a young man I was a serious athlete and 5'9" 160 lbs. and played football and track successfully. I started out with a few beers here & there and never any side effects. As I got older I could drink more & never any headaches or hangovers - hence the problem - I had to drink more to get the same "buzz" I used to get from a couple of beers. If you can stop for days or weeks at a time, then you're probably OK. Me, I got used to drinking every single day & rarely remembered going to sleep at night as I got older. As my old man told me growing up 'Be careful of drinkin, as John Barleycorn sneaks up on you" - no truer words ever spokin'...

i disagree w/the "if u can stop for days or weeks at a time ur probly ok"Chemical dependencys key feature is not how often u drink/use...is when u do u lose control over the amount and ur behavior!i would stop pot smoking for a month.....drink more....do more cocaine.....and rationalize but i'm not drinking!i would do this ping pong game w/ a variety of substances......only to eventually lose control over the amounts of ALL of them!I eventually conceded defeat to controlled use........never rally had it....and doubt that i ever will!
