Husband going away on course, how can I stay sober?

My husband is going away on a course to-day, he has to have all credit cards, money cheque book on him at all times so I do not drink. Of course he has to leave me with the above whist he is away. Can anyone think of a positive thought plan, thanks, Nicky.

Don't give up! It's one day!

Remember to think positive thoughts. Remember how awful drinking made you feel and remember all the problems it caused. Remember how awful you felt when you woke up the next day and how that whole day was ruined with nauseau and headaches and everything else. You don't want to go back there so remember how healthy this is. Remember that its the right decision for you, your health, your marriage, your family, and anything else that you can think of that was affected by your drinking. Remember you are making the RIGHT choice by not drinking.

Keep yourself busy today. Work in your garden, read a book, go for a walk and get some exercise. Catch up on your television shows. Call a friend and go out for coffee or to the theater or something fun!. Keep yourself busy and distracted.

Has there ever been something you wanted to do or learn that you haven't? Quilting? A new language? Cooking? painting? Maybe now is the time to start! No time like the present!

If you need help go to an AA meeting or call an alcoholic support hotline. There's plenty in the US so I'm sure the UK has similar hotlines. And of course, we're always here.

Do you have someone close enough to you that knows about your situation, that understands, and can hold onto the money for you and distribute it or even shop for you? Can someone stay with you too maybe?? Just an idea.
