I think I'm starting to become an Alcoholic, help me before it's too late!

Hello,

Those of you who use the Anxiety forum will know that I suffer from Depression and am wondering if it's Anxiety or depression, or both.

Now when I get really depressed, I drink, i can't help it, i just thing "the hell with it" and help my self to a glass of wine or some lager/beer/cider etc.
Sometimes I drink as many as 4-5 glasses of wine and 2-3 cans of Carling. Obviously this is expensive and I'm taking it from my mums "stash" that she hides from me, but I obviously know where it is.

My mum gets increasingly annoyed and concerned with the amount of intake I have.

But it's not exactly every day 24/7, I'll have a period of 2-3 weeks with constant drinking then about 2 weeks of none, this is mainly because of my mums watchfull eyes, but I'm sure I wouldn't drink then anyway.
Why do you think this is?

Thanks

-John-

Hello,

Many thanks for your help. You've really opened my eyes, have you got any tips for cutting down on alcohol? I see some of the symptoms you've listed, and I feel I can relate to them, and it's pretty worrying.

Thanks

John, go see a dr.  maybe you need to be on an anti depressant.  I am and i am also on a drug called Campral.   It helps the cravings for alcohol.  Get a handle on this before you get worse off.  Also a therapist might be in order and AA.  I do both of those also.
Best wishes, TJ

You know you are heading down that road, so I too would urge you to see your doctor about some antidepressant meds. That can make a big difference in your life.
