Thank so much sara! I hope you realize how much your support has meant to me. I needed to know another woman who could relate to what I was dealing with, who was already living the life that I was just trying to understand, the life without alcohol, and there you were. You words of encouragement and your acknowledgment of my journey means the world to me. You do so much to help so many other people, and I feel so special that you reached out to help me when I needed it most and that you've continued to be there all this time. It is not easy learning how to live life sober in your 30's after being drunk for 20 years, but I am doing it. Everyday I am doing it and some days are harder than others. But I often say that I am a huge work in progress, that I will never stop trying to be a better person, but I do have all of this sober time and no one and nothing can ever take that away. On my most difficult days I tell myself 'at least you're not drinking anymore' and it helps me get through the hard times. I am so lucky I got another chance, so lucky to be alive and breathing. Quitting drinking was the key to unlock the door to this whole other world that I am still trying to figure out. I am so fortunate to have you, this forum and especially my mom and grandma to be there when I am feeling lost or just needing a little confidence boost. I am a better person for knowing you sara, and infinitely better for not drinking. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I stopped at 41!!  I met a man last night while working and saw his medallion hanging from a chain so i asked him how long he had been sober, 36 yrs he said, the best 36 yrs of my life.  He called them his "skid chains"(he had 2) and he said 1 is in case my heart decides to go crazy(nitro) and his medallion he could rub in case he ever thought about having a drink.  I am sure he was in his 80's.  He asked me how long i had and i told him and he said it doesnt matter how long we are sober, what matters is today......

You guys are so awesome. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I'm having a hard time lately in general but the one thing I have going for me that pops into my head constantly is 'at least I'm not a drunk anymore'.
