Liver problems?

Hi, So i have been drinking daily for about 9 years and very concerned. I have had a swollen stomach for 2 months which the doctor diagnosed as constipation.

After realizing it was not constipation he has arranged a scope, but recently been having a bit of pain just under my rib on my right hand side. The pain comes and goes but i had lost 2 stones over the last 2 months but i am eating great again and just managing to do the toilet even though i am still constipated.

The main thing i am worried about is all day today i have been itching all over my body, i know this can be a sign of cirroshis. I have/will not be drinking today but i am worried that it is a little to late.

Anyone any idea's?

That's the amount I drank daily with occasional major binges and I didn't have any liver damage. There were many times I thought I did. I had the same symptoms you do. Everyone is different but you may just be stressing your liver. I was always surprised when my liver test came back fine. Make sure you remind your doctor of your concerns. If the tests continue to come back ok, count yourself lucky.  The more important question is, are you ready to quit? I also had kidney stones. I think some of your symptoms could be caused by the stones. What addiction care are you getting?

With abstinence from alcohol, your liver can repair itself.  Short of cirrhosis, it can repair itself completely.  And even with cirrhosis, it will significantly improve in terms of function.  (if you quit drinking)

I had similar issues, and was diagnosed with fatty liver disease.  6 months of abstaining from alcohol, and a scope showed my liver as "normal" again.  But it takes time, so be patient

I'm sorry you are feeling so badly. How much do you drink daily? Is your doctor aware of your drinking?
