Your husband needs to want to quit. Need to want to quit enough to go to any lengths.

I think that it would benefit you greatly to get to a meeting of Alanon. A group of family members of alcoholics that talk about how the alcoholism is affecting their lives. There you will find kindred spirits , and I really think that you need some friends right now. It's a terrible thing to have to watch a family member killing themselves with the drinking. Please try to go and keep an open mind. You may learn what you need to do going forward, how not to enable your husband for instance.

I take it he has detoxed in the hospital, and then gotten some sobriety before falling off the wagon. and drinking again. An alcoholic needs more than just to detox. In "Rehab" an alcoholic leans why they drink (other than the obvious addictive quality of alcohol). There may be underlying conditions, like mental health issues, ptsd, etc. If your husband is not willing to go to Rehab, he can access the same information by going to an Addiction's Therapist. There he will be introduced to AA, or other avenues of continued support (for him to abstain from alcohol)

You cannot deal with this by yourself. Please be open to getting yourself to an Alanon meeting. and start the ball rolling in the right direction.

I'm here if you need to talk. My name is Liz, and I quit drinking (as well as my husband) back in 1999. Not a drop since. (and i was as bad as they get). I know there's help for your husband. Now we need for him to get to know that.

Its obvious that he cannot control his drinking if he's been in the hospital plenty of times because of it!Drinking perfume is a definite hallmark of late stage alcoholism!
