One small glass of wine a day

One small glass of wine a day

I had a problem that was all I wanted to do was sleep all day no energy just felt awful. Went to GP had fasting blood test she told me my problem was alcohol related. I was drinking about 36 bottles a month. Never first thing in the morning, always as soon as i came in from work and a lot more on the weekend. in all 36 bottles a month. Her advise was to cut down to one glass a day. Which I have done and on occasions none. When I go out i drink one glass then soda water and lime. I have done this now for approx 8 weeks, I excerise almost every day and drink plenty of water.i had been drinking for 15 years. a first i felt great however over the last couple of days I have started to feel very tired not sure what to do next.

I don't know what to comment on that.  Maybe the answer lies in why you drink.  I don't know, I have my own issues, but maybe it's something to explore.  And maybe another trip back to your GP for advice.  I wish you the best.

Congratulations on cutting your drink back as much as you have. Is having one glass even worth it though? It might feel really good to just say, no thanks I don’t drink. Anyways just a thought, one glass is fine too as long as you don’t have any liver problems.

I am wondering about your blood lab and how high your liver enzymes were and which ones were elevated? When you have testing done it’s always good to ask your doctor for a copy of the results. It is normally free of charge. once you have the copy bring it home and put it in a folder. When you have your next test compare the two and see what areas are needing improvement. It can actually be quite interesting to see what kind of difference you can make.

For now you might start taking a multivitamin. Patients having liver problems normally have problems with their body absorbing enough nutrients. So a multivitamin is necessary until your liver has had time to recover at which point you will no longer have elevated liver enzymes. You might also try eating foods that are high in antioxidants. They will help your liver expel the toxins from your body. The water and lime works great for this also. Keep up what you’re doing and you should be fine in no time at all. I hope this helps you. You should have another lab test to monitor how those levels are doing. Give it another month though. Take care and God bless you

You are doing the right thing by cutting back.  I suggest that you get to AA and tell them your troubles you will get plenty of feed back on what might help you. They will suggest that you keep coming back to meetings.  But if you dont want to go you should get outpatient treatment this will help with the withdrawals.
