You know Patt this needs to be checked out as soon as you can. One of the big dangers with heavy drinking is we often fall into bad health. Don't wait to be checked. There are plenty of things you need to look at in that area. Good Luck Patt and keep posting....ike
I love you Tink! Can't add anything to perfect advice!:)
May I point out that if You have gone as long as "a couple of weeks at a time without relapsing" well then, in reality You have proven to YourSelf that You CAN go without alcohol. I am not suggesting that You will never 'want' (or crave) to drink again but instead, I am saying that You CAN do this; You HAVE proven it. YOU are the one who CHOOSES to drink or NOT drink. Worry for Your health and well being is a BIG motivator as You know beyond doubt that alcohol wreaks havoc on our entire system and does create "irreversible damage"
"one day at a time", one hour at a time if that's more do-able for You.
Regards,
Tink
Understood. I am considering seeking professional help due to the fact that I'm having trouble stringing together more than a couple of weeks at a time without relapsing. And Im having blood work done with a 2nd Dr next week. And for the first time in my life, I intend on being honest with him. I just pray that I havent done irreversible damage
Rule out developing pancreatic failure.
The diagnosis does not have a happy ending with pretty birds and butterflies and uplifting songs.
You need to stop drinking as of yesterday.
be honest with your doctor , they know what tests, to do and what to look for, but you probably realize it would be good for your health to figure out with your doctor the best way to stop alcohol intake. then work on recovery...
