Question about Alcoholism and Health

Hello all:

I am an alcoholic who quits and relapses somewhat regularly.  I have developed a "feeling" under my right ribs.  No pain.  I can just tell that it is there.  Also, and this might be a question for another forum, I have an odd "feeling" right above my hip when I lie down on my right side.  No pain.  I just feel like something is there.  Anyone else have these symptoms before?  I feel them after a binge, and then they tend to go away when I string together a few days of sobriety.  Would I be able to sense my liver if it were inflamed or damaged?  Any insight is wonderful.  Thank you all for your time.

I am 100% with Ibizan on this. You need to see a doctor and then "quits" with NO relapses. It is the only thing that will keep you  away from worrying every day that something else is wrong with you, Alcohol takes a terrible toll on your organs . As long as you continue to drink if not today than tomorrow will be the day you find you have done irreparable damage to yourself.

Don't let that happen---Sober Life is too good to throw away!

Used to have a dull 'fullness' under the right side of my rib cage.  Had all the tests, nothing ever came of it.  Last time I had tests was probably a year after getting sober.  My body seems to find things to keep me worrying, but that feeling has not come back, nor has my acid reflux or all the rotten feelings I used to try to live with when drinking.

I think my getting some exercise and quitting drinking saved me from what that problem could have been indicating.  So, it may be nothing to worry about, but getting the alcohol issue off the list might help resolve.

Best to you.

you need to schedule an appt. with your family doctor,be totally honest @ your drinking and hopefully he'll order a CBC w/emphasis on your liver enzymes.
