Something not right.

Drinking background ages 15-18 Binge Drinking once a week. 18-25 at least 3 times a week mostly heavy drinking (over 8-10 drinks) 25-30 probably more like once a week but still heavy at times, up to 12+ drinks sometimes more. Now once or twice a month often heavy. I can sit and have a couple and be fine, after the four pint threshold I can't stop.

I'm 31 and think its time to stop. My hangovers last up to four days, I don't think my body processes alcohol well now. My partner can always smell it on me when I think I'm fine, my stomach feels awful, then follows the depression and days of being lazy and fed up. I'm rarely sick but after 15 years of giving my liver a hammering, it's time to accept I could have done some damage.

I have experienced facial flushing a while back that went in an hour, is this normal? I had been drinking heavily. Is there any way to detox the liver the right way and start making it better?

Thanks for any advice

Thanks Jinx, I appreciate it. I know it's going to be hard because of my personality type. I get bored easily / addictive personality and drinking the way I do is almost a part of British culture for many.

I would almost have to avoid social situations with drink, which is quite sad. It's a form of alcoholism but one that goes almost unnoticed because people can hold down jobs and get away without people noticing.

How long have you been off the drink?

best decision you have ever made.
binge drinking is a lot harder on your body than a steady amount of alcohol everyday.
you need to go to your doctor and have liver function tests done and find out what the damage is, regardless you NEED to stop now while you have the chance.
binge drinking was the way i did it too.  i couldn't even last a full 2 yrs without my body saying 'NO MORE'   i think since i binge drank it was not hard for me to stop at all.  i just said 'NO MORE' and that was it.
