ALCOHOLISM COMMUNITY
This is not really a question but a view from someone on the outside.

This is not really a question but a view from someone on the outside.

Please, please quit drinking while you still can.  My parents are both alcoholics.  My father passed away at 66 yrs old.  and he had a terrible death.  He was in pain most of the time.  Lost his mind and dignity.  Then, there is my mother.  She is 83 yrs old and now in the hospital for the million time.  I believe this is really it, the end.  It is a horrible death.  Her mattress was covered in black liquid.  Her floor was covered in black liquid and CHUNCKS.  Now, if  this does not scare you then nothing will.  She is vomiting her organs out.  Yes, could be liver, kidney, or any organ.  This is a horrible way to die.  Please quit.  Think about vomiting out your own organs before you decide to have a drink.  It is poison.  You are killing yourself.  Please quit.

when my dad passed in 2006 some pinhead ppl asked didn't u feel like drinking?OMG!what would that solve?wouldn't bring him back and he would hate it if i would've done that!we learn how to move thru the pain and frustration of life minus it and is really is doable and so much better! My mom has Lewy Body Dementia is going 2 b 92 and has congestive heart failure.I go visit her bi-weekly in assisted living place for Alzheimers folks.EVERY year that i've been sober/clean she REMEMBERS my sobriety date! That means the world to me in words I cannot express!I've been blessed to have a mother like her and thank God for my family!

Ah dear!If only it were that simple and if only human beings were that simple but they are we are not!My heart goes out to you and if this is the end for your mom may she go in peace. Her condition sounds horrible and 30 years of drinking to result in what u describe sounds nightmarish. If we had the power to change the bad things ppl do themselves what a better world this could be!But that is not possible. There are several here who have quit and make pledges to our recovery...and the best we can do is serve as beacons of light for others wishing the same!prayers for her and u!:)

Hi, I hope all of you really think about it before  you have another drink.  This is not her first side effect.  She has been sick for awhile.  Thank God she has 3 daughters that care for her otherwise she would of died by now.  So, cherish your family because they care and only want the best for you.

Anyway, mom has been admitted and is in surgery floor.  I don't know anything else except she lost alot of blood.  I won't know more until I go to the hospital.

Prayers out to you all.  You can do this, you are stronger than this poison.
thanks everyone, Maggie

I've got 6 years of soberity and I have no desire to drink (today), but reading your plea is sitll very helpful.  Alcoholics can become very self-centered -- I know I did -- and need reminders that we aren't alone in our disease.  Thanks for writing!
