addicted to alcohol - does it affect the heart

Hi Davunas. Welcome to the forum.. Yes Alcohol affects the heart it effects all of our organs. Alcohol is probably 1 of the most caustic thing we can put in our body.  Here is just a small piece I copied on 1 type of heart issue related to alcohol.

Alcoholic cardiomyopathy is a form of heart disease caused by alcohol abuse. Long-term alcohol abuse weakens and thins the heart muscle. The damaged muscle cannot pump blood as it should, which deprives the body tissues of oxygen. This can lead to multiple other health problems and even death.

Men between the ages of 35 and 50 have alcoholic cardiomyopathy more than any other group. However, women can also have the disease and because of typically smaller body sizes, can develop the condition after less alcohol use than men.

we have a forum dedicated to alcohol you should check that out. You do realize it is dangerous to stop drinking suddenly You really need to speak with your Dr. and be honest with them if you are having a problem you think is related to alcohol consumption. I wish you well, lesa
