As part of my recovery I needed to deal with things from my past.
Alcoholism is an illness that needs to be treated, the smart thing to do for starters is to speak with your family doctor about your drinking.
Most people with addiction issues are powerless because they do not recognise they have a problem and those that do don’t want to accept they have a problem or just don’t want to change, this is why we have to change our thinking. Easer said than done when you are drinking for many years.
After many years I still can go back to my old way of thinking and not be aware of it. This can lead me back to drinking, that is the last thing on earth I want or need, this is why I go to AA.

please consult a therapist and perhaps she/he can refer you to some other help with the alcohol issue. bringing up the past can be painful, thats why there are professionals to help you along, we all have some pain in our past, some more than others, but the way i see it now is this, why let whoever hurt me or you win by taking the rest of my life!!! why suffer day after day with alocohlism and drug addiction (in my case) for things i could have never controlled anyway..
point is, you are not alone, you dont have to be anymore....i commend you for sharing such a painful story, whenever you need that support we are here...but please try to take a step further for yourself and your baby, you both deserve it. i have a 1 year old and i never thought it was affecting her, maybe it wasnt maybe it was, but i sure dont want to find out the hard way, and thank God i did not ever harm her, i never drove drunk or drinking period, she never needed emergency care while i was under the influence, my husband was always around....but what if??? ya know what i mean...God i was lucky and i remember just that every day....
you have a lot of strength for posting this, keep reaching out!!
