getting into trouble- alcoholic???

getting into trouble- alcoholic???

I have never thought of myself as an alcoholic, but drinking has gotten me into quite a lot of trouble lately. I got my first DUI a couple of months ago. I have to report to some kind of class tomorrow and found out they are going to test me for alcohol. well, i had a few drinks the nite before and am i going to show up positive and get into even more trouble now? Jail was not fun and i do not want to go back there. So i have decided to just forget the couple of drinks only and just not drink at all.

I can't help but notice that all my trouble has been because i was drinking. So yea, i think there is a problem. I'm like a nervous wreck about tomorrow.

I can relate 2 where U are! I have had DUI's that got me into a heap of doo-doo which I am still paying 4. If U are curious you can go back to my posts and read all about it. Good 4 you that you have decided to quit drinking! I don't know what kind of class UR going to if it's DUI school they will breathalize you, if it's been more than 12 hours it probrably won't show up and if it does it will be under the limit. If you were told not to drink as part of your probation (if you have prob) then U might have a bit of trouble explaining. Hopefully U will be OK tho. This should show U even further that it's not worth the buzz to end up back in jail. Hope all goes well 4 you and DO stick to UR commitment to not drink!!! AA, this forum and lot's of support is out there once you have made the choice of sobriety...grab it embrace it and move forward!!! Good Luck to U!! Let  me know how it went. If you coose to read my posts that should encourage U even further....It can get pretty serious!!!!!!

Hey, thanks.
at least i can relax on my day off here now.

so, maybe it was a good thing i got this stupid DUI. dummy me would probably never have figured out that alcohol is causing all the problems i am having.

seems that i always have some kind of injury going on. last one was a sprainged ankle that kept me from work for 2 days. -did while i was drunk.

contracted an STD , poor decision of no protection. -did while i was drunk.

charged hundreds of dollars on drinks that i do not have. hah- i don't even make enough money to cover rent every month. -done while i'm drunk.

and now i am grounded and cannot drive anywhere for months now and it is yea, depressing. i live alone and all my family live 2,000 miles away. also they are changing my resticted license to a breathing device. ha-well i have a lease that i am stuck in and u cannot put one on those. so now i will not be able to even drive to work. i have already lost a good job over this.

i was addicted to pain killers for the last 4 years and finally got out of that nightmare 8 months ago. so i am not going to let this get the best of me. i did not go through all that just to be pounded in the ground by alcohol. or this damn system.

thanks so much for your input!

Hah- so it seems i am in the Breakfast Club now, every thur nite. We all sit in a circle and discuss the way we are dealing with the hardships of being in the system now. Also how alcohol has put us into problems and finding other ways to cope or have fun. So it may be an ok thing. i feel more like i fit in here than the aa meetings. because no one here is to the point of physical dependance. more of problem drinkers, not knowing when to quit and making bad decisions while drunk. that is far enough for me. cannot even imagine being physically addicted to a substance again. "been there, done it, burned the t-shirt!" hah- and don't need another!

they did not even test me, it just hangs there above you like a sword.

Just remember....U R teetering on the edge or else UR already there and aren't ready to admit it! That's OK but keep in mind  of UR troubles already!!!! RU ready to take the chance 2 take it further? Meaning thinking it's ok TO DRINK? I personally Wish U the best of Luck!!!!!!!   Please go back to JUNE 3 of this year and read my posts! Maybe it is something U all can share in your group! Your class is mandatory I'm sure  and I know everyone is trying to make light of what got them there to begin with! It's funny and amusing but don't lose sight in UR heart of how U got there! Nobody tells it all in those classes....trust me!!!!!! Only U know......Terry

Yes, ur right. i am teetering. the classes turned out to be pretty good lessons. our teacher was great. and i am completely confident that i do have a drinking problem and something needs to done. like stop drinking-ha.

looking through my past, i just natrually have an addictive personality. everything i have ever taken, i have abused and or became addicted to. so i may not be that kind of a person that can just socially drink. hah- looking back now, i have never fit in that category. since my first drink- it has never been "social drinking".
