dustin has rectal bleeding the blood is old  burgandy color he no longer has solid bm"s he drinks alcohol often he is 31. he has severe right lower quad pain severe nausea at times. he has been drinking for 15 years. at times there will be blood clots in his liquid stool. he has had 2 episodes of ascites . but they slowly resolved.  please tell me what kind of damage we are looking at . he has as of late been experiencing  anger toward us and not caring about his life type attitude. he will not go to the md and has stated he will not give up drinking. please i need your advice i am a nurse but have been unable to convince him to go to the hospital. what do you feel is going on . possible ca? thank you for your time.

Ascites and bleeding problems including bleeding from rectal varices is unfortunately a sign of liver failure.For someone who is 31 years old its quite early.
He needs to go to ER ASAP.If he is bleeding from rectum he probably has oesophageal varices too....

it certainly sounds like he may be scared and is taking out his frustrations thisway when one is scared or has fear that somthing is wrong this is the way some take it out they are not mad at you but this is serious he needsa docor in the worse way that is the way my husbands cancer started in his urine
my husband was an alcoholic he stopped because he could not drink when they started treatment           lost luck Jo

It's hard to see someone you love on a self destructive path . I've been going down that road with my daughter . Maybe he suspects something bad and he's  scared to have the doctor confirm . Try calling the AA help line  800-274-8435
they may be able to lead you in a good direction . Don't nag and get him on the defensive , just show him you love him and care .
