is he an alcoholic

my partner has always drank since before i met him 6 yrs ago, he only drinks lager, he started to dring less when we got together but he still drank never the less, he always had to have at least 2 cans a day, then 4yrs ago his mother died and his drtinking got worse, we now have 2 children and he drinks till he is drunk every night, i've asked him to move out for a while as i have our 2 children to think about and he is becoming irresponsible.
He says his drinking is not a problem but yet he is still doing it even though its causing us so much trouble... is he an alcoholic or am i too harsh.

If he isn't an alcoholic, he soon will be if he keeps this up.  Time for a little tough love.  Tell him to come up with a plan to quit or to move out until he can get his act together.  If he has a plan, make sure he sticks to it (and support him in any way that you can).
