Congratulations on your choice to quit drinking. I've been clean and sober for 13+ years now with my husband. All i can tell you is this, drinking everyday was awful, I always felt like crap, looked like crap. It was hard to initiate treatment, but i just got the the point..(cliche coming...........) of getting sick and tired and being sick and tired. I just wanted to get up in the morning and have a cup of coffee and not a drink, i wanted to go to work, without having to have a drink at lunch, on break. I wanted to be able to drive my car without fear of getting (another) DUI's. I wanted to go to family gathering without having to be drinking. I just wanted to be "clean" again, and not filthy in the disease of alcoholism. Sure, it's hard to man up, or woman up, and initiate treatment, but you're not a child. You can do this. Have faith, just go and talk to an addictions counselor at an outpatient program, they'll help you out. IT IS SO WORTH IT, We still have friends that "have" to have a drink, how pathetic it all is, I'm so happy I got the balls to deal with this problem like an adult, FINALLY. Please do what it takes to get the help to change your life, you won't regret it. You will constantly be regretting NOT doing it though, right? What choice do you have? You know what you should be doing, please.......just do it!! We're here for support for you every single step of the way!! This is something that I didn't have and that i see works so well for so many on here. The help you can get here, if you're serious IS INCREDIBLE. LIFE CHANGING a 24 hours sponsor pretty much!!!
Aren't you worth a clean and sober life? If you don't think so, you should first visit with a therapist to find out why honey. I'm here for you if and when you need and want to talk. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
A pill alone will not help u stop drinking!U need to accept that the first drink starts a never-ending cycle of more drinking! Most court ordered folks do not have the internal desire to stop drinking.Sometimes it comes after repeated legal problems/consequences.I have seen good results w/Naltrexone and Campral to curb cravings. This is a temporary thing usually lasting 6 months-one year then dosage is weaned down to nil.Couple this w/ a DESIRE to stop because its what YOU WANT..plus a support system of sober ppl and cutting ties w/drinking/drug buddies and ur on ur way!
