psychically unable to drink = alcoholic?

psychically unable to drink = alcoholic?

I am 23 and have always been a bit of a partier type growing up. When I was younger my drinking always resulting in me blacking out and usually getting kicked out of whatever bar or wedding I was at because of how drunk I was.
It is extremely frusterating, embarassing and disappointing that I cant join in on the fun my friends are having because of the harsh reaction alcohol has on me. On the rare occasion I was able to remember a night, I stuck to wine only and made sure I had lots of bread by my side all night - it helped.  Now I try and eat loads and loads throughout the night but if I can't get that bread or meal in time I have the same reaction - black out pass out rediculous drunkeness that had led to so many problems.  also my drinking nights turn into me obsessing over eatting througout the night as well - not fun and probably weird for others.
Here's the thing - since my drinking has become so bad I have cut back to maybe 3 times a year. My social life suffers hugely from it (althought I don't really care about that), but I still can't handle those 3 times a year!!
I don't need alcohol by anymeans. I have it in the house - don't drink alone, I can have one or two drinks no problem without needing more. It's once I hit the 4th drink that I'm always in trouble. No matter what.
Of course everyone will say I am an alcoholic and that I need AA or to just not do it, but I don't rely on alcohol or need it by anymeans.
Im just young and want to enjoy my youth, i want to have a drink with my friends at their wedding, I want to go out with friends for drinks on occasion.
I have always wondered if it was an underlaying medical condition or if there is something wrong with my liver, it feels like Im hyper sensitive to alcohol, and usually it hits me hard before Im even aware and by then its too late.
How can someone who drinks 3 times a year, BE an alcoholic?

It is NOT so much the amount you drink but the how you react to it that is the problem for most people with drinking problems. Ok so at the moment you feel that you don't have a problem but keep in mind that alcoholism is a progressive illness......
