slowly

I'm going to try quitting by slowly tapering off. Does this really work? I'm scared to quit cold turkey. My uncle tried quitting like that which lead to his death. I'm 37 year old female I've been drinking heavy since I was 25. I drink vodka everyday starting around 5 pm until I passout..been in hospital couple of times next day from dehydration (thought I was dieing). I drink everyday, I tried quitting  a couple of years ago, but it only lasted a month. I'm on lots of anxiety meds also. Been hospitalized for that as well. I desperately want to quit. I have 3 teens. I want to quit so I can live for them.

I 150% agree with onthefence advice! If you do not change, the chances are high that your children will follow in your footsteps and/or hook up w/other alcoholics/addicts as they proceed in life!

i would encourage you to contact a detox center, that way they can moniter you and your meds while you detox off alcohol. and then aftercare will be really important, .
it sounds like you have the desire to begin the process. that is Wonderful!
now you must take action, gather courage , and make arrangements to go to the detox center, make it your number one  priority, if nothing changes,, nothing changes......
