4 year old with Tomato allergy

My four year old started developing a  face only rash and inchiness everywhere at the age of 18 months when she had her first tomato.  We waited 6 months and tried again at 2 years of age.  Still rash and itchiness, so we had her tested.  She came back negative for tomatoes, but her reaction to it is getting worse.  The doctor thought it was the mold that grows on the tomatoes but that process tomatos (ie: spagehtti sauce and pizza sauce) would be fine.

Unfortunately (she is 4 now) lately in that last 2 or 3 weeks she now breaks out in a rash and itchy skin when she eats anything that has tomatoes in it.  We had pizza the other night which she has had dozens of times with no problem, same pizza, and she started crying becuase she itched and she was breaking out in a rash on her face.  

I have an appt may 22nd for a second opinion and have her retested.  But if this truly isn't a tomato allergy what is it.

It's a good idea to have her retested.

Tomatoes are very acidic, your daughters reaction could be more of a skin sensitivity than a true allergy.

My son was this way with both tomatoes and oranges until he was about 6 years old.
