A sharp pain in my upper chest

by MichaelCali, Mar 18, 2009 04:04AM
Just today, i started feeling a sharp pain in my upper chest to my lower throat. It mainly hurts when i breathe, and it also really hurts when i cough. I think it may have been something i have recently eaten today, but this pain has continued for a few hours, and its keeping me awake.

Your symptoms can be due to a number of things.

It does not sound like a typical food allergy.

The first thing that comes to mind is GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). This can cause the symptoms you are experiencing, which can be quite severe, and are usually worse at night.

Angina can also cause these symptoms, so I suggest you see your doctor, so you can get a proper diagnosis.
