Allergy skin test shows candida allergy

Hi, my son is four years old and has suffered from allergy problems since the day he was born. He is always sick and always missing school because, he coughs so much that he vomits. The dr. has tried just about every allergy medication possible like nasonex, patanase, singulair, xopenex, pulmicort, and albuterol. All of these had very little effect on him.  A few days ago he had a serial dilution titration test and it showed to be positive for a number of things like: alternaria, aspergillus (aspergillosis), cephalosporium, helminthosporum, cockroach, mite DF, mite DP, and the one thing that stuck out to me because, I don't really know what it is is candida. We are supposed to see the dr. in a week to go over his results but, in the mean time since the fact that I don't know about this is driving me crazy, I was wondering if someone could explain candida to me?!? I have read that it is yeast after researching but,  can't find much about an allergy to it. What does candida allergy do? What can you do to treat it? Do you have to avoid certain foods?

I have had episodes with Candida, it is no fun. Actually, it is a type of "yeast infection" that affects mainly the GI tract, but, it can have miserable reactions in the entire body. Some of the things that can bring it on are: long term antibiotic use, this takes all the "friendly" bacteria out of your system, long time use of being on the "pill". and a weakened immune system. There is a great book by Doctor Crook called "The Yeast Connection" I highly recommend it to folks who have Candida and even food allergies, I have the book, it is terrific. You can also google "Yeast Connection" and it will bring up some great sites, one even gives a quiz to see if you may have it. Oh, the best drug for it is "Nystatin"
It is a powder, and the doctor will usually have you start with a "dot dose" and work up, again, this is in the book.

There is actually a Candida diet, and it is really great, it is also good for food allergy sufferers. The main thing to remember with candida is to avoid ALL sugars, even honey, all wheat products and gluten.

Hope this helps and keep us posted. Candida is not fun, can make you sick, but, after it is under control, you should be just fine.
