Food allergy?

by Hatrabbit, Oct 16, 2009 10:57AM
Yesterday morning I awoke with a swollen face, itchy as can be. This seems allergy-like to me. I've never experienced a food allergy before, but the afternoon before this happened I ate an oyster sandwich. Am I probably correct associating the oysters with my swollen face? Also, I have a very important appearance to make on Tuesday... how long does this sort of thing usually last?
Thanks

I can't answer about how long it will take for the swelling to go down, but it seems reasonable that the oysters were the culprit, since shellfish is a fairly common allergy.  Has it been quite a while since you've eaten any shellfish?  Then, this is likely the culprit.

Have you tried to take any antihistamines, like Benadryl?  Benadryl actually helps me with my food sensitivities, as my food sensitivities aggravate my GERD.  If I take Benadryl, the burning seems to settle down quite a bit.
