I can't answer about how long it will take for the swelling to go down, but it seems reasonable that the oysters were the culprit, since shellfish is a fairly common allergy. Has it been quite a while since you've eaten any shellfish? Then, this is likely the culprit.
Have you tried to take any antihistamines, like Benadryl? Benadryl actually helps me with my food sensitivities, as my food sensitivities aggravate my GERD. If I take Benadryl, the burning seems to settle down quite a bit.
