Is there a cure for nut allergy symptoms?

Hello

Both me & my brother suffer from nut allergies especially Almonds, but I can eat peanuts, my brother cannot. We both have similar symptoms after exposure, like swollen lips, urge to throw up, chest pain, rash and sometimes flu like symptoms.

My Question is, is there a medicine that we can take as a relief of those symptoms ? I know that there isnt a cure for the problem but we just need something to take after exposure.

Thanx

I forgot to mention, if your brother ever experiences anaphylactic shock should he unknowingly eat a product with peanuts in it and needs to use his EPI PEN, he must call 911 or the equivalent emergency number where ever you live as he will need an ambulance to bring him to a hospital where he will require emergency care. If this life threatening situation should ever happen to you, you should carry around an EPI PEN too and also call the emergency number in your area.  These life threatening symptoms can occur within minutes of ingesting nut products.  I read about a girl who was at a camp. She was ten years old and had a severe allergy to peanuts. She decided to make herself a sandwich and used a knife to butter it.  The knife hadn't been cleaned properly and there were apparently traces of peanut butter. This ten year old girl put the sandwich in her mouth, within minutes had an anaphylactic shock and died at the camp.  This is a true story. This is how quickly things can and do happen.
Both of you should also wear a MEDIC ALERT bracelet or necklace in case you become unconscious.  The bracelet will let emergency responders know that you are allergic to nuts.  Be well.  Eve

Hello Khalidws,

Welcome to the Allergies - Food Community. I see you joined Med help recently. You say both you and your brother have allergies to nuts.
I think you mentioned that your brother has allergies to peanuts and that
both you and your brother have allergies to almonds. Nut allergies are
particularly worrisome. If I were you, I would tell your brother not to eat
any amount of peanuts or peanut butter. The problem with allergic reactions is that the reactions can and do get worse.  If your brother continues to eat peanuts or peanut butter and I mean any amount the following things could happen which are life threatening - his throat could swell up to the point where it closes up and he cannot breathe. This is part of  anaphylactic shock, which can lead to unconsciousness and, in extreme circumstances, death." Anaphylactic shock can cause symptoms such as bluish skin, coughing, difficulty breathing, dizziness, hives, nausea, severely swollen eyes, lips, or tongue, stomach cramps, and wheezing. " Life - threatening allergic reactions can come on suddenly and progress very quickly. Reactions can occur within minutes. "
Your brother sounds like he is highly allergic to peanuts. He should be carrying  something called an EPI PEN.  Your brother's family doctor needs to write him a prescription for an EPI PEN and show him how to administer the EPI PEN . EPI stands for epinephrine. Your brother needs to discuss his peanut allergy with his family doctor. You and your brother should also not buy any bakery goods in a store as these often contain traces of peanuts and other nuts. My advice to you and your brother is stay away from all kinds of nuts. Do not eat any kind of nuts. You should also discuss with your family doctor you allergy towards almonds. You say you can eat peanuts. If I were you, I would not eat peanuts either. So I hope I have convinced you to stay away from all nuts. Tell your brother to also not eat any nuts period. You are both risking your lives if you eat any kinds of nuts, especially, in your brother's case, peanuts. There are a lot of products now that have a peanut with a line through it which means the product is peanut free.  Think seriously about what I have shared with you today. Your life may depend on it.  The information in quotation marks comes from one of my health resource books called " Prescription for Nutritional Healing " ( Fourth Edition ).  Allergies are no joke. They need to be taken seriously and as I shared with you, allergic reactions after eating nuts can become life threatening.   I wish you and your brother well.  Eve

None that I know of, and with nut allergies, I sure would not flirt with trouble by eating any of them.
