Recurrent tonsil swelling one side

Recurrent tonsil swelling one side

Hi,
I am a 26 year old male, non-smoker. For last 5 weeks I have this recurrent tonsil swelling on my right tonsil, feels like something is stuck in throat, it comes and goes away in few days. During last one month my tonsil swelling occurred thrice, out of which I got pus in the tonsil twice. My ENT specialist told it is most likely because of food allergies, infection from post nasal dripping or acidity. She treated it with antibiotics, anti allergics and anti acidics (to control acid reflux). I have given away spicy foods, deodorant sprays, tea and coffee and it seems to help. Whenever I eat spicy or have a tea or use deo sprays my right tonsil swells again and I feel something stuck in my throat.

A day before yesterday, I ate a little spicy in office and also had a coffee, yesterday my tonsil got swollen again. It isn't worse yet, but past two swelling incidents had lead to pus formation. Should I see a doctor immediately or wait? Do allergies have anything to do with tonsils?

Hi,

Allergies are all connected in the system .. I'd go for allergy testing to help you determine the allergen.  Not sure on the sprays except they are inhaled and travel down too I'd assume. Things even as common as cinnamon  can cause allergy .. I think of that when I think of tea in that I know some allergic to cinnamon which seems unlikely .. yours could be something uncommon, too.
