allergies

Every now and again I break out into hives. Sometimes are worse than others. Ive gone to the dr and he said I was allergic to something. That it was hard to pin point what it could be. I havent been using or eating anything different.Ive been using same shampoos, bodywash, lotions, detergents. So on and so fourth. Does anyone know if theres a way that I can find out whats causing my allergies to act up?. All my dr suggested was for me to keep up with my meds.. k. Thanks lots.

Hi, you can maintain a diary and note down your symptoms, this may help to narrow the cause for your allergies. If you are unable to detect the cause consult an allergy specialist. First he may do a blood IgE levels to see if they are raised. Next, he will do skin testing. This test is painless, in which a very small amount of certain allergens are pricked into the surface of your skin. If you have allergies, just a little swelling will occur where the allergen was introduced.  Reactions occur within about 15 minutes.  If needed more sensitive intradermal tests will be used in which a small amount of allergen is injected within the skin. Based on this he may plan for immunotherapy. Regards.
