So i went to a friends house and they were having burgers. I had some to not be rude and the burgers were idk medium-rare to medium-well( i guess in-between that) but now im concerned i know under cooked meat especially hamburgers can be bad and cause a lot of problems. Should i vomit it up? or will i be ok?

Hi,

You probably made out okay ... it's more for the food establishment places I *think* that these guidelines are enforced but absolutely don't be shy next time .. nobody will be annoyed.  I know I wouldn't.

it would be more of a food poisoning type of reaction than allergic. Isolated.

How are you now?

So long as you aren't experiencing symptoms of an illness, I would not panic.  It's true that undercooked meat is bad, but do try not to worry, because even doctors can't really do anything at this stage in the game unless you're showing signs of illness.  The human body is amazingly resiliant when considering all the things we often do to ourselves.  If you are more or less healthy, there is actually a very good chance you won't even get sick.

Yes, you can get sick, but try not to focus on that.  Stressing yourself about it now won't help.

By the way, I've had the same thing happen to me a few times in my life.  I never got sick from the burgers.  One would think I should've gotten sick.  Especially after considering the food born illnesses that have made the national news from time to time.  Like you, it wasn't me who undercooked the meat.  I know better than that.  I'll use a meat thermometer when necessary, too.

Actually, the one time I did get sick from a restaurant, the person with me who ate the same food got sick, too.  And, this was fully cooked food.  I never went back to that restaurant or that restaurant chain again either.

Next time, just speak up.  You don't have to be rude or anything.  But, if you notice that the meat cooked at your friend's bbq is not fully cooked, just say something politely.  You could ask if you can cook yours a little bit longer.  That might go over a little better than saying something directly.  Even if the person's feelings do get hurt when you don't mean for that to happen, the person will get over it.  When it's a potential health hazard, it is right to say something, because the whole group of people could be affected.
