allergic to the buttons on my pants?

by mesha_18, Mar 29, 2007 12:00AM
okay, my belly button has a deep red rash and it smells a bit funny.

i usually dont wear pants but i have started wearing them for about a month or two now.

recently, as in about 2 days ago, my belly button turned a deep red, became dry, and emitted a weird smell. it hurts a bit as well.

am i allergic to my pants?

you could always place a bandage between your skin and the pants and see if it clears up - if you have an "inny" - you might have soap and shampoo gunk in there that needs cleaning out... try rubbing alcohol on a qtip first, then wash out with mild, warm soapy water, then alcohol again to dry it out ...lastly, dab some deodorant on the area around your belly button - and see if that helps?  Keep us posted

hi my sis in law has to keep coating the back of buttons with clear nail varnish as they make her eczema worse ! x x

Nickel allergies are common. But, unless the button pressed directly in the naval, it may just be that the jeans held in moisture and possibly given you a fungal/yeast type infection in the naval.  You can keep it clean with alcohol and dry with a powder like gold bond.  You may even try some cream otc that is for yeast. best of luck to you, tmv

my child had the same thing and i took him to the doctor it is called contact dermatitus u are allergic to nickel. we paint all the buttons that are metal with clear fingernail polish or put tape over it so his skin does not come in contact with it.

I to am affected by this i wish i could tell you something good but i cant.  I my self have resorted to only wearing cloth/hemp skirts and pants.  This also limits my ability to wear earrings and necklaces unless they are silver, plat, or gold.  Is there a medication that I can take so i can live a normal life and not look like a hippy/bum?
