13 month old has a bad face rash

i recently took my 13 month old to the beach and put baby sunscreen on her and later noticed that her cheeks and nose looked badly sunburned and spotty, i wiped her face down with water and noticed a slight change in color, got lighter red and less irritated. i reapllied the sunscreen not thinking it might be the cause and it flared up again. i made sure to keep it off of her once i realized, but now 3 to 4 days later it is still there. it isnt a solid red now its raised bumped and redness all over her cheeks and on her eyelids. im really concerned and im not sure what it might be now. any ideas?

Hi, welcome to the forum, your baby has developed rash secondary to irritant i.e. sunscreen and is known as irritant dermatitis. Few babies are known to be allergic to some of the components of cosmetics including sunscreen, certain chemicals (detergent, shampoo etc.). Avoiding these situations is helpful for acute flares as well as for long-term management.

Other forms of treatment are use of anti histamines and corticosteroids against prescription will help to reduce itching of the skin as well as rash. It will take some time for rash to disappear.

You need to consult pediatrician. Take care and regards.
