5yr old with bite like red puffiness

My 5yr old has a a fever for the last three days.  She seemed to have knock the fever yesterday morning however last night she developed a bite like red puffiness below her right eye.  This morning after a dose of Benadryl it seemed to have subsided.  However, when i picked her up today her entire eye was puffy and her eye was very red.  I gave her a dose of Benadryl and placed a cold cloth on her eye.  It is still puffy but the distinct bite like has calmed and the eye is now pink.  is this a reaction from the three days of a high temp?

Hi, I would have her seen by her Ped to be certain it isn't getting infected.  You may have one or two things going on but with a temp for 3 days I would go for a look/see.

The swollen and red eye might be due to conjunctivitis which is inflammation of the thin transparent membrane which covers the eyes. Fever may be caused by a cold, which often happens along with viral conjunctivitis, but sometimes fever is a sign of a more serious infection of the eye or other part of the body. Also, swollen eyes can occur with other inflammations or infections of other parts of the eye like iris, cornea, lens etc. It's important that an element of injury needs to be ruled out so you will need to consult your primary care physician for further evaluation.
