ASO titre

Hi,

My son is 6 yrs old. He lives in Bangladesh.
Yesterday I got his Molecular and Serodiagnostic lab result.
Where the 'ASO titre' result comes out 1280 IU/ml. 3 months ago it was 2980 IU/ml

Would you please tell me due to this condition what medical condition he may suffer.

I am very anxious about his health. If you want more information you may contact with me by e-mail
at  ***@****

Thanks

Hello,

A raised ASO titre indicates recent or past streptococcal throat infection, mostly throat infection. If your son had recent sore throat in the past few days then also ASO titres can be raised. However you should consult an ENT surgeon and a cardiologist for further evaluation specially to rule out RF/RHD (rheumatic fever / rheumatic heart disease).

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.

Hi,

Anti Streptolysin-O titer indicates bacterial infection. This test is ordered to detect possibility of post infection rheumatic heart disease and sometimes kidney disease after infection.

Unless we know all the signs and symptoms and other reports,it is difficult to comment further
