good morning, last thursday i washed my daughters hair (age 5) with a different shampoo, by Friday evening she had developed a slight rash behind both ears and on her feet. by saturday morning this had spread to her face, as my local surgery was closed i asked my pharmacy for advice, he said it was a reaction from the shampoo and gave me antihistimes.this seemed to take awake the itch, i also noticed on Saturday night that she had contacted head lice, i treated her hair with a lotion. by monday morning the rash had spread to her neck. i brought her to my doctor who confirmed it could have been a reaction to the shamoo and she was allergic to it. he prescribed Hydrocortisyl Skin Cream 1%. this was applied sparingly to her face and neck. By tuesday the rash has spread to her back and parts of her legs, as directed by the instructions with the cream i have been applying it twice a day. today Tuesday she woke up this morning and the rash has more or less spead to her full body. should i have noticed a improvement by now? it seems to be getting worse not better.
Her appetite isnt great, and she's not eating very much.

Hi,

I suggest you bring your daughter to the nearest ER since she may be needing immediate assessment. The rash seemed to have spread despite the medications. Hypersensitivity presents in a spectrum of symptoms.

I do not want to cause any panic or worry but if a hypersensitivity reaction that does not seem to abate is suspected, close supervision is necessary.

you have to take her to the doctor imediatley! if you cant go to the doctors because it is not open or no appointments then go to a&e nearest hospital.
you can never over worry when it comes to children.
you must go now. it should not be still spreading chances are it was was not the shampoo but something else.
your daughter may have very sensitive skin and also be allergic to what the doctor gave you.
for allergic reations the stuff the doctor prescribes should make the problem get better fairly quickly not worse
go now.. you will not sound like an over worried mother. any thing that gets worse needs further investigation.
please tell me if it gets sorted out

hi, just to update you,i rang my er department regarding my daughters rash, i was told there was nothing they could do as it sounded like an allergic reaction.just keep putting the cream on. the rash continued to spread.two nights ago i had to bring her to a doctor at 11.30 pm as she was scratching her skin so bad i thought she would draw blood, i was told the same there and give phenegron for the itch, this seem to work and she went to sleep. thanksfully today, one week later, the rash is fading and only is appearing on her chest.
thanks......
