Allergen Detection

I'm amazed that in the 21st Century that nobody can advise what it is that is causing my allergic reactions. I've had blood tests that tell me that my IgE level is high therefore i am the type of person liable to react to allergens.

I've known that all my life, what i need to know is what specifically is raising my IgE level then i can address the issue.

For the record i am allergic to dust mites, mould and shell fish. Obviously i've learned how to stay clear of these particular allergens.

I recently purchased a property with all wooden flooring. The property is furnished minimally with new furniture.

Since i moved in to this property i've suffered from chest, throat and eye problems. This was alleviated significantly by the purchase of an IQAir Filter.

The property is in a city environment and my dilemma  is whether it is this city environment that does not suit me or something in the property that i'm reacting against. I'm pretty sure it is the property because my health improves when i'm away from the property. But who do i find out what it is??

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks for listening..........

Hi, welcome to the forum, to find the responsible allergen is one of the challenges you need to pass through. You need to go for skin tests to identify the allergen.

Some measures which will be helpful to you are-
- Treatment of the outside of a house with pyrethroid (pyrithrin) chemicals prior to cold weather is one of the best measures.
- you need to close the windows of the car and home, stay indoors when possible, and use air conditioners and dehumidifiers to filter the air during times of peak symptoms. It will be particularly helpful, if you are allergic to mold or pollens.
- Showering before bed to remove allergens from hair and skin can help reduce contamination of the bedding.
- Water leaks should be fixed and swamp coolers should be cleaned periodically.

I hope this helped you. Take care and regards.

If you really want to pursue the cuase of your reactions, you can have skin pr ick testing done.  This is very accurate for determining your allergens, but it is place specific (ie each city/region will have its own standard battery of allergens to test for).

The new furniture in your home could be off gassing many different things that are triggering your breathing problems.

Take care and feel better.
