Allergic Eyes

What is the best antihistamine for allergic eyes?  I am experiencing worse eye allergy than sinus allergy this Spring, and I think it is due to tree pollen in this area of Texas.  I have found chlorphenaramine maleate and benadryl do not help.

I had an itchy left eye (not much in the right eye) for several days.  Oral antihistamine did not work, neither did some dated eye moistener (not sure if fresh would work better) and one other OTC eye drop.  Got no relief.

Next I tried Similasan Allergy Eye Relief. My eye improved immediately and after three or four days of using these drop 3 or 4 times a day and the itch is gone.  I have used the drops only once a day, some days not at all.

Not sure it was allergic or something else.  Whatever these drops worked for me.

Allegra and Zyrtec both work pretty well for me, but honestly they don't solve my eye problems entirely. Get some replenishing eye drops to rid your eyes of irritants and keep them moisturized. Also, if you wear contacts, consider switching to glasses more often or getting a more gentle contact brand. Avoid gaudy makeup during the spring, and resist the urge to rub and touch your eyes.

Hi Daniel0251,

I just finished reading your comments.  When you go and see your eye
doctor for your next eye examination, I would ask your eye doctor if
he or she could recommend some antihistamine drops for allergic eyes.
Someone in my family has this issue too and her eye doctor who is
an ophthalmologist recommended a certain product to her, in fact I
believe her ophthalmologist who is my eye doctor too, gave her some
eye drop samples to try and they worked. They worked so well that
she bought more from a pharmacy.  Good luck to you.  Eve
