Allergic Reaction

I've been on percocet on and off for a couple of years.  It gives me an allergic reaction.  I have red spots that itch.  I don't get any other symptom of an allergic reaction.   I've tried other pain meds  but none work as well.  If I can deal with the itching and the red blotches, am I in any kind of danger for short term or long term ?

Hello,
If you are having even mild allergic reaction as hives on taking a medicine, you should not take that medicine as sometimes these allergies can turn out to be serious particularly when they involve the vocal cords or respiratory muscles. Then they can cause life threatening anaphylaxis. You can take other pain killers like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac after consulting your PCP.

Hope it helps.Take care and regards.
