Allergic reaction?

How long would it take to have an allergic reaction to a topically applied cosmetic treatment? I have had a reaction to something and all I can think of is that I used some new products containing natural herbs and fruit enzymes etc, however this was almost 48 hours ago.
My symptoms are itching and bumpy, slightly reddened skin on my face.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

Contact dermatitis to any cosmetic can occur either immediately or it may take some time to occur. This depends on the chemical properties of the substance, the length and frequency of the exposure and the amount and concentration of the substance coming in contact with the skin.

Pls do not apply that particular cream for some days and see if your symptoms improve or not. Corticosteroids(5% corticosteroid creams are available over the counter) in the form of creams(dermacort) and ointments can be applied to the affected area to reduce the inflammation. Antihistamine tablets can help if there is itching associated. You can apply calamine lotion to your face.It helps in soothing the skin.Severe acses may require oral steroids. For this you need a prescription from a dermatologist.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
