Allergic to ALMOST Everything

I want to start off with my problems, I would wake up in the middle of the night cramping really bad and having to go to the bathroom atleast 5 times right after another, I was hurting so bad I was having panic attacks, and breaking out in hives. I had shortness of breath, sweating, itching, burning all over my body, I would break out in hives and they would be huge all over my body. Dr prescribed some medication which didnt work. So he sent me to an allergy dr, which drew blood and the test came back which tested 52 things and only 1 out of the testing was normal. Everything else was ABNORMAL.The doc was shocked and had to get another doctors take on the report, which
the *other * doc said for me not to eat the same foods I ate the day before. They prescribed Claratin and Zantac which has a good hold on it right now, and was told if they stop working I will have to take 3 shots a week, which I hope I dont have to. The only thing I wanst allergic to was Alternaria Tenuis. Does anyone else have this problem or am I the only one who is different?

Let me start at the beginning.  3 years we moved to Florida from Arkansas.  When we got there we stayed with my motherinlaw for a month before we found a house to rent.  She was using Cheer on her laundry so we used it too.  About 3 weeks into our stay with her I started getting hived wherever my clothes touched.  Ok I switched back to my original detergent gain.  All's well and good for the next year no problems at all then all of a sudden I find myself once again covered in hives.  I then change my detergent to Tide Free.  That worked for a couple of monthsbefore the hives began again.  I then switched to All Free.  The next week I was at work and started breaking out again this time all over my body.  I went to the ER and ended up getting a large amount of decadron and a shot of Epi.  I was started on a steriod pack and some allergy meds.  I started a downward spiral of being clear when I went to sleep and covered when I wake up.  I went to work on benedryl and prednisone.  I was floated to the ER for my shift ( i am a nurse)  I had to go to the laundry room and get some more sheets and blankets.  There was alot of dist from these in the air and within 3 minutes I couldnt breathe.  I was admitted for the next 2 weeks.  My allergy doctor would not send me home until we found a winning combo of antihistamines to keep me safe.  During my hospital stay I was tested for everything.  The only positive tests were my H51AA and of course my histamine and epi levels were through the roof.  I was retested and the h51aa came back negative the next month. Now, I cannot have ANY allergy testing until I can stop taking antihistamines for 7 days.  I cannot stop these meds because I am afraid I will die if I do.  Isnt there any way to test me without stopping my meds?  I am taking allegra 90 mg in the am zyrtec 10 qhs and benedryl 25 q4 hours around the clock.

Before I was born my mother had anaphylactic allergies. She got scratch test done, but they could figure out what she was allergic to. If, for example, she got the test done in the morning the results would show that she was allergic to everything she ate for dinner the night before. She was told to rotate her diet too.
Otherwise she is only allergic to cat dandur and chocolate.

I just turned nineteen and I've been having trouble with anaphylaxis since I was twelve. At first I was just allergic chocolate and wool.

Then, two years ago stigmata appeared on my feet. It took us a year to figure out that I had developed a latex allergy. You see, I figure skate, and the tongues of my skates are covered with latex. My feet had turned red from being exposed to the latex several times a day.

Overall, my allergic reaction have increased in frequency over the last two or so years. They are normally not that serious, generally just rashes and inflamation. However, they happen several times a day, almost always after I eat regardless of whether I rotate my diet or not.

I never thought much of it until I was trying on bathing suits before I went on vacation a few weeks ago and saw how scratched up my back was. I'm going to arrange an appointment with a physician as soon as go back to college next month.

Anyone know what dyes or fillers are used in Blood Pressure Meds? I've been allergic to 5 now. Had skin testing done for perennial and seasonal allgeries and now - after my third dose of Singulaire...I am feeling itchy all over again!!  This is getting old!  I am off all blood presure meds for now so, it's almost as if I'm all out of whack and becoming allergic to everything ((medicine wise)) that I ingest... Benedryl doesn't bother me but, taking a benedryl with a Singulaire isn't fun...

Yes I did have the blood drawn IgE test done and thats how I found out I was allergic to just about everything. The highest levels were Dog dandur which I didnt have one in house, and Pork Chops that I never eat. All the rest were mid level allergic, but those 2 were the highest. They even gave me a copy of my papers to keep so I would know. So far my Claratin and Zantacs are working and I hope they keep on working. Thanks for all the avise and responses.

Sounds like your IgE is out of whack.. Did they test that also? It's usually through a blood draw.  It determines your reactivity, so if it's elevated you're going to actually develop allergies to things you are exposed to frequently, hence the need to rotate your diet.  Do you have something in your life to which you are really allergic right now? Like a cat in your house? Do you live in a moldy apt or in woods? This can set it off but the number of things you become allergic to then expands.  I agree about food testing--have some RAST panels done for common allergens--then AVOID the ones you score highly allergic to.  It will give your system a break. Having a lot is very tiring (but no, not uncommon).

If you haven't already, you should be tested for food allergies.  The symptoms you had are the same that I had when I had anaphilaxic shock.  I'm not trying to scare you, but It is extremely important to find out what foods you're allergic to as anaphilaxis can be life threatening. I have to avoid certain foods and I also carry benedryl and an Epipen just incase I accidentally come in contact with certain foods.  I'm not sure of the exact number of things that I am allergic to, but it was very high.  However, only certain ones (in my case foods) are extremely dangerous to me. Good luck and I hope you find out exactly what could be causing these extreme symptoms!

I'm not sure if they are available in the U.S. yet, but you may want to go to google.com and check out "sublingual drops". They use these in Europe instead of allergy shots and they are the same thing.. only safer.  If you can't buy them in the U.S. yet, then consider trying homeopathic remedies. They have remedies that treat pollens, foods, etc. and they are very cheap. Considering how severe your allergies are, I would consult with a Naturopath physician first (or your regular physician... just to make sure they are okay for you). I used homeopathic drops for cat dander and then tested negative for cats years later. I never had the allergy shots for cat dander either !

alot of people have a lot of allergies -- i'm surprised that you've had an allergic reaction to 51 things though!  wow... You may want to consider the allergy shots as these can reduce/get rid of your allergies to many things.... I think you'd just have to go in every week for the first month or so, then they taper off. I would think about it.

I'm allergic to many things, dust, dust mites, cats, rabbits, dogs, everything indoors, many things outdoors -- I take a 24 hr allergy pill daily and don't mind it. My sister, on the otherhand, has double the allergies I have, and has just begun the shots.

Regarding your symptoms - I'm not sure the cramping & going to the bathroom has to do with your allergies, maybe? You may want to talk to a psychiatrist about that - especially the panic attacks. Maybe after you get your allergies under control - you'll feel better.

Also you will need to allergen-proof your home - remember to get covers on your bed & pillows - also, no carpets if you can - and have allergen free bedding (comforter, pillow). You may want to look into one of those allergen reducing air purifiers too -- that may help you at home.

Hopefully you'll start feeling better!!
