Allergies and Dizziness

I suffer every spring from the usual tree pollen allergies. This weekend was particularly bad in our area. Yesterday, I woke up very dizzy. The dizziness only occured when I moved around - but did not affect me when sitting still, reading, worlking on the computer, etc. I never had a headache or nausea, just motion sickness when changing positions. This lasted pretty much all day. Could this be caused by allergies? Any other ideas? I am still a little dizzy today - but nothing like yesterday.

Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Dizziness could be due to postural hypotension (blood pressure falling with change of position), internal ear problems and cervical spondylitis. All these cause dizziness when you get up from lying down position. Cervical spondylitis and ear problems also cause dizziness on changing the position of the neck.
Other causes are anemia, GERD, hypoglycemia or low sugar and some endocrine problems. Blood pressure you can monitor in various positions to rule out postural hypotension—while sitting, standing and lying down.
Allergy will normally not cause dizziness.
Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
