Allergies driving me mad! Any suggestions?

by laydeechaz, Nov 10, 2008 07:44PM
I'm a 19 year old female, i've had hayfever on and off all my life, but it's never been bad compared to some people who suffer from it.
Since the begining of this year i've woken up everyday with a runny nose, sneezing, runny/watery eyes and flem (phlegm) that i have to spit out constantly. It's gotten gradually worse, i now get ear problems, constant fullness, ringing, dizzyness, pain all around my ears, blocked Estauchian Tubes and pressure in my face, around my eyes, ears and head that makes my head hurt all over, like a pressure type feeling in the back and on the top, it's annoying! I suffer from Anxiety so i get scared that i've got a Brain Tumour and all that =/ Keep being told it's allergies though.
Also when i was younger my room got very dusty, as in there would be a layer of dust on my tv, my mum worked hard so didn't get enough time to clean up. So she now thinks thats my year-round allergy, dust mite.
Does a dust mite allergy cause all this? I asked my doctor who said it's a strong possibility and did offer allergy tests if it comes to much. I have 2 cats aswell, think i might have a small allergy towards them.
My whole head feels like it needs to be drained, arghhh.
I do take medicine to help.
What can i do?
Is this all allergy symptoms?
Xo.

Hello,

Allergic rhinitis or hay fever is a collection of symptoms, predominantly in the nose and eyes, caused by airborne particles of dust, dander, or plant pollens in people who are allergic to these substances.

When a person with allergies breathes in an allergen such as pollen or dust, antibodies are produced. When the antibodies are stimulated by pollen and dust, histamine and other chemicals are released. This causes itching, swelling, and mucus production.

Pls contact an allergic specialist and get skin tests like skin ***** test done to find out the allergens to which you are allergic. In this a small amount of allergen is introduced into the skin of the forearm and the reaction of the skin is noted. If there is any redness then that person is allergic to the allergen introduced.

You can also get blood tests like RAST done.

Onjce the allergen is identified then avoidanmce of that allergen is the best treatment otherwise you can go in for medical treatment also.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.
