Allergies or something more??

by mrsnj91, Feb 15, 2008 03:17PM
I started in Nov. with a sore throat and cough along with my daughter.  The sore throat went away but the cough stayed.  By Dec. I started wheezing and trouble catching my breath mainly in cold and excercising.  I also had itchy, dry eyes, swollen sinus and post nasel. I thought possible asthma and made an appointment with my allergiest.  He did a routine chest x-ray and found swollen lymph nodes.  A CT, blood work and biop later the only thing they have found is severe inflammation.  My cough, wheeze, postnasel, swollen lymph nodes and swollen sinus' continue. I now suffer from double ear infections.  They are now testing for any and all inflammation diseases.  I still believe it is allergies and I am just getting frustrated.  Is it possible to get swollen lymph nodes from allergies.  I am getting no relief and seem to just be getting worse.  What can I do??  Are we looking in the wrong place?

Hi,

What medications have you taken as yet? Have you taken steroid nasal sprays and steroid inhaler medications? Have they helped?

You should talk to your doctor about whether a course of oral steroids, antibiotics and bronchodilator medications would help in your case.

Has a lung function testing ben done?

Which lymph nodes are enlarged?

Lymph node enlargement is seen secondary to an infection and even in certain other lung conditions which would have symptoms like yours. But the lymph nodes cannot most probably be enlarged due to an allergic reaction alone, unless associated with some other dosease process.

You need to talk to your doctor in detail about this and clear all your doubts.

Let us know how you are doing and also what your reports say.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
