Allergy & Zona

My Wife is having recurrent allergic symptoms (fever, numbness maybe, dizzining, headache, face and lips getting larger) mostly when she is getting upset and/or nervous,.
She is well known to have allergy from profenid.
After many courses of treatment basicly containing cortisone, the allergy appears again.(from food? colors? beverages? fruits? ) nothing specific or ascertained...
lately, her Dr advises to make general allergic test to detect the cause of allergy, and mentioned that maybe she could have zona.
Kindly clarify what kind of allergy does she have? and what is zona? what are the main symptoms and treatment of such disease?

Thanks

Best Rgards
Tony

Hello,

ZONA is another name for herpes zoster or shingles. Shingles is an infection caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is the virus that causes chickenpox. Shingles occurs in people who have had chickenpox and represents a reactivation of the dormant varicella-zoster virus. The first sign is usually a tingling feeling, itchiness, or stabbing pain on the skin. After a few days, a rash appears as a band or patch of raised dots on the side of the trunk or face. The rash develops into small, fluid-filled blisters which begin to dry out and crust over within several days. When the rash is at its peak, symptoms can range from mild itching to extreme and intense pain.

Treatment of shingles includes antiviral drugs, steroids, analgesics and anti viral eye drops.

Did you hear the doctor correctly? Maybe he was saying eczema instead of zona. . It is a form of chronic dermatitis (rash).Allergic reaction is one of the important causes of eczema. Allergic reaction can occur to strong soaps, Solvents, chemicals, certain foods, food additives, plants, metals, cosmetics, even urine and faeces of some animals (dust mites). Diagnosis of skin allergies includes Skin ***** tests, patch tests and blood tests like RAST.

Pls confirm it again whether it was Zona or Eczema. Both conditions are different and have different treatment.

Take care and regards.
