Allergy Testing and Allergy Shots question

I recently was tested for allergies because of recurrent sinus and wheezing problems.

I am allergic to trees, weeds, molds,grass, dogs,cats and dust mites. My doctor put me on Avelox, Allegra D, Symbicort and Prednisone. All of this for 10 days.  He also wants me to get the Allergy shots for 6 months and states that I would feel better around then.  Is this a waste of money and time or do these shots work?

I have had a rough 2007.  Never have I had such a problem.  I get rid of the sinus problems and they come back within 10 days.  I don't want to stay on these meds too long.  Any suggestions.  I want to do the healthy thing to feel better.  Thank you
