Alot of symptoms throat swelling etc...

Can allergies cause swollen throat, tight chest, shortness of breath ??

Each morning I wake up, I start to hack up mucus all day long, my throat feels really harsh like sand paper friction when I swallow, throat is swollen, tight chest, shortness of breath and feel as if I have a noose around my neck from muscle stiffness, and my nostrils are always swollen.

I have tried nasal irrigation 3x a day, seems to help somewhat but not complete relief, sometimes ni makes the condition worse (odd),.  I  have tried Benadryl allergy doesn't work, Loratadine doesn't work, I'm allergic to Allegra-D, and Zyrtec makes me feel like a zombie.  Hot water with lemon seems to help my throat, but it seems the condition just doesn't want to go away, no matter what I do.

Is there any medication that actually works reducing swelling, inflammation, etc.....  All suggestions/experience appreciated.

Oh and allergist told me to take aspirin when my throat swells, but aspirin doesn't help either.

Hi,

Allergies can cause breathing difficulties and nasal symptoms.

To what substances are you allergic to?

What symptoms do you have? Do antihistamine medications help with your symptoms?

You should avoid substances to which you have  documented allergies to.

You should take some steam inhalation, saline nasal drops and oral antihistamine medications and see if it helps with your symptoms.

If your symptoms still persist it would be best to consult a doctor and get a proper clinical evaluation done. You would need to rule out the other causes of breathing difficulty including asthma, chest infection, sinusitis, etc.

Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Regards
