There are several "local" anesthetics on the market that will "deaden" the skin for surgical proceedures or shots including a couple that will temp. freeze the skin nerves for a couple of minutes. Make sure to remember the name of the drug you had problems with and have the doctor note a "sensitivity" or "allergy" on the front of your chart so that it isn't used in the future. Check around to see what doctors in your area does that test. Generally you can call a blood lab in the area and ask if they do the allergy testing on blood and if they do, ask what doctors order it.
